Enrolment Info
The process to enrol
We welcome all enrolments to our kura. The first step is to come and say hi! Feel free to pop in and we will take great pleasure in showing you around our amazing school grounds and introduce you to ‘our people’.
If you would like to enrol your child at Wairau Valley School, you will find the link below. Part of this process will require sighting some official documentation, such as a birth certificate or passport, medical information, any legal documentation such as a Parenting Order or Protection Order.
If your child is not a legal citizen, we will also need to sight your child’s visa and passport. All other information is collected on the enrolment form.
FAQ's about enrolment
Does my child get vists before starting as a five year old?
Absolutely. Some need one or two visits while others need five. Each of our akonga (students) have different needs.
What are Ka Ora Ka Ako? (Healthy School Lunches)
These are lunches that are provided by the government and they are delicious. Your child will have a lovely lunch every day – that you don’t have to make or pay for!
They will have to bring a water bottle and a brain snack for morning tea. Brain snacks should be nutritious and healthy like fruit or crackers. Please refrain from sending your child to school with lunches that are sugary and pre-packaged. The School Lunches are optional so please let us know if your child would like to opt out.
What do I do about school stationery?
Stationery is supplied to students and then parents are invoiced at the end of each term. This is a minimal cost.
Is there a school uniform?
No. Your child needs to wear appropriate clothing and footwear to run around and learn.
We do have a school top that we wear when we are out and about in the community (shown in the photo above).
What if we are transferring from another NZ primary school?
Well, welcome to Wairau Valley School then! What we ask for is the name of the school and teacher(s) your child(ren) have just come from so we can make contact with them to get their records transferred.
